The name Maison Alisse carries a deeply personal meaning for me: it is born from my lifelong longing for Paris, a city that embodies timeless elegance and artistic craftsmanship—values that are at the core of our brand. “Alisse” in French is the equivalent of “Alison” in English, a subtle nod to my own identity, while “Maison” (the French word for “house”) symbolizes a sense of belonging, heritage, and permanence. My greatest dream is that one day, there will be a building in Paris bearing the name Maison Alisse—a physical manifestation of the brand’s spirit, where luxury, craftsmanship, and the love for cashmere come together in one iconic space. After college, I dove headfirst into the fashion industry, spending the next 10 years working across every corner of the business. I started as a design assistant at a luxury knitwear brand, where I learned the intricacies of pattern-making and garment construction. Later, I moved into sourcing and production, traveling to mills in Italy, Scotland, and Mongolia—regions renowned for their cashmere expertise. Those years on the ground were eye-opening. I saw firsthand the difference between mass-produced “cashmere” that faded after a few washes, and true, high-grade cashmere that only grew softer with time. I also witnessed the gaps in the industry: brands that compromised on fiber quality to cut costs, supply chains that lacked transparency, and customers left disappointed by products that didn’t live up to their luxury price tags.
